How to unclog aerosol bottles

This happens occasionally with dry shampoo.  I've had 2 bottles out of 5 clog up on me.  For the longest time, I had no idea how to unclog them because everyone just said to run it under hot water.  Well, I did, and they still were clogged.  I finally learned the trick a few days ago; to take off the nozzle and run both in hot water.  It frightened me in doing that at first because I was afraid of breaking it.

I finally took the courage today and pulled the nozzle off; ran it under hot water and viola!  Unclogged bottle of dry shampoo!

Aerosol bottles clog up because the particles inside the bottles may be big and collect.  This also happens with self tanners.

  1. Awesome. Thanks! I just had my bottle of dry shampoo clog up tonight and the hot water didn't work. I'll take the cap off and try again. You may have just saved me 20 bucks.

    1. I have to stick a toothpick in mine to get it out because it was so clogged I suggest trying that!

  2. How did you take off the nozzle? That's too impossible.

  3. Puriology hair spray always clogs up, it would be good hair spray if it didn't clog up. Running hot water over it does not work. Not worth buying it
